Modern Manchester would not be the same without the legacy of the Cheney family.
Today, a majority of Cheney-built structures still stand, and the Cheney Mills and Mansions have left an indelible mark
on the south end of town.
- The Great Lawn, around which most of the mansions stand, has recently been reconditioned, and most houses have been renovated
to their original state, though descendants of the Cheney brothers no longer inhabit the mansions.
Modern Manchester utilizes almost all of the original Cheney structures, including the mills themselves, some of which
have been preserved and converted into apartments.
- Cheney Hall, a theatre built by the family is still used by the Little Theatre of Manchester Co., Mary Cheney Library
houses an excellent collection of books, and the Cheney-designed Elizabeth M. Bennett Middle School (which was originally
Manchester High School) houses a sixth-grade academy.
- Lincoln Center, Mahchester's original post office and town hall, is now used as town offices, and is adjacent to the present
hall, and the first church built in Manchester.
- The Cheney-built rail line near the Manchester Depot is no longer used, but still stands.
